Laminam was founded in 2001 based on an idea of engineer Franco Stefani, innovator of the ceramic industry, who conceived this product by creating the production technique. The brand originates from the patent of the technology for production of ceramic slabs with large surfaces and minimum thickness, characterised by eclecticism and versatility, with multiple applications in traditional as well as advanced architecture, in interiors and design.

Laminam is capable of producing large sized slabs with thickness ranging from 3 to 6 mm. The special technological process used creates ceramic slabs of the same thickness having physical-mechanical features better than tiles obtained using the traditional technique; therefore, even the slabs with 3 mm thickness pass the most stringent mechanical tests with flying colours. However, it is good practice to understand that there is suitable thickness for every type of requirement.
For example, Laminam 3+ slabs are suitable for residential flooring, while Laminam5 slabs are recommended for flooring in public-commercial premises. For kitchen counter tops, a thicker single 6 mm slab or a composite slab obtained by joining two single slabs can be used.
